4 places you should visit when being in Surabaya, Indonesia

Surabaya is a port city on the Indonesian island of Java. It is considered as a boring city and many people said that there is nothing to do in Surabaya. However, if you are an adventurous person, you absolutely can see here as an interesting destination in your journey, with the exploring 4 places below:

  1. Monumen Kapal Selam (Monkasel) /Submarine Museum


This is a historical submarine museum where was used during the campaign to force the Dutch out of the Irian Jaya. You just have to spend 5,000 rupiahs to access inside submarine. It is quite interesting when you can see a small museum and even a short film about the submarine here. You only need a short time and less than 1 USD  to explore this massive work and rich history.



  1. House of Sampoerna

Origin of the house was an Orphanage and after it has become the biggest cigarette factory in Surabaya since 1930. The most interested thing in the house of Sampoerna is to watch workers hand-roll high-end clove cigarettes. Besides, you also can enjoy the small museum and art gallery here. There are a good coffee shops serving with meals for visitors after short trip around this area with reasonable price.

  1. G-Walk


G-Walk is located between Pakuwon Super Mall and Ciputra Golf, is a treet with many food stalls and bazaars. Visitors can purchase any food type here which is delicious and nice or good coffee shops if they want to behold panorama of the street. It is an ideal place to walk around and relax without the hustle and bustle outside. At night, you should try to enjoy nightlife here when arriving bars of restaurants and soak yourself in night activities on the street because it always is crowded later night.

  1. Surabaya Zoo

You can not quit this destination when being in Surabaya, esspecially you are with children.

When you went into here, you can enjoy feeding the birds with peanuts which bought at the zoo entrance, riding a carriage pulled by a camel or riding a horse by low fee.

You also can watch an animals show where a bear rode a bicycle, and pelicans danced around. You even can touch animals you like and play with them. Surabaya zoo is the same with a small wild world but you are completely close to that world. The entrance fee is 5,000 rupiahs per person.




In addition to that all, Surabaya also has big malls where are convenient for adult to go shopping and outdoor playgrounds for children.
